Wait, why is this any worse than any other online game?

Some people have addictive personalities; they will addict to anything.

It's really up to the parents to make sure kids go out and have fresh air and exercise. At least playing (and in) YV they're not in gangs or doing drugs. Its good to warn parents who never thought of that, I guess, but to make YV seem more dangerous than any other online computer game seems kinda overblowing it to me. Does anybody remember those who called EverQuest "EverCrack?" Eventually people got bored with it and moved on with their lives. Same with World of Warcraft ("World of WarCrack").

In YoVille, there's no violence, and I'd rather have kids playing that than the gun-related or car theft games that are out there. At least there's some better social values going on in YoVille, and some attempt to encourage something other than murder or felonies. Why pick on YoVille? Again, something about this article just seems inflammatory and disingenuous to me.

Quit getting all bent out of shape about the little things and yelling "the sky is falling" every time someone in your family finds some new thing more interesting than you. And buying a digital couch for 2 bucks is a lot less destructive than spending it on booze and drinking yourself to death. Get some perspective and chill out.

This too shall pass.

I too have a family member who is addicted to yoville as well as farmville, my mother. She is a retired RN and has been hospitalized several times over the last couple of years for suicide atempts and severe depression. I think my older brother showed her facebook as a way of keeping in touch with her brother who travels a lot. Someone on her facebook got her into farmville and yoville. For the last 4 months she has done nothing but play farmville/yoville. I go to visit her and she complains about the scammers on yoville and the price of fuel on farmville. I call her and every conversation turns into farmville or yoville. She sets her alarm to wake up at 3am to take her baking out of the oven at the sweets factory because she doesn't want them to burn. My husband and I have told her numerous times that it's unhealthy to have a life that revolves around an imaginary world. She even told me that she wants to create an account for my 6 year old nephew so she could also play his account. I refused to let her create an account for a 6 year old. I felt it wasn't a wise choice to have information about a 6 year old on facebook. Now she creates fake accounts and becomes friends with random people just to get a bigger farm or apartment. I seriosly feel there is a problem here but the rest of the family just turn a blind eye.

This is some weird shit, I've been addicted to ACTIVE massively multiplayer games and shit like that, killing monsters that look astounding is really really fun for me especially with spells, and getting faster and stronger and more hp. Now this normally doesn't appeal to older people (most of the time) but now they've basically changed games like ragnarok online, maplestory or world of warcraft into some gay ass dress up game. I heard you level up and get items and the more you play the more money you get? That's almost like a regular mmorpg, the more you kill monsters the stronger you get, the stronger your skills are.

Now they've even got people BUYING shit off of yoville? How does it make ANY sense to buy a couch for 2 dollars?! A FAKE DIGITAL COUCH!!! That's insanity!!! It's not normal and it's INSANE.

But it's all like a normal person, everyone is getting TIRED of their life, especially when one person is getting old and they are getting depressed and ANGRY about how they haven't even done anything with their life but fucked themselves and others. The only solution is self forgiveness, I'll do some.

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to be addicted to a videogame to suppress the hatred and anger of myself in the real world.

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to desire to wear pretty and fancy clothes and make friends and look good in general.

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to be angry frustrated and irritated towards myself for not doing anything worthwhile in my life to change anything instead I feared my way through-out my whole life.

I forgive myself that I hadn't allowed myself to apply self forgiveness for anything that I fear and if I can't, talk about it then apply self forgiveness.

Hey, I play Yoville too but im not addicted. I think moderation is key. I play about an hour a day or less. And if your addicted then just cut down slowly. If you play for 6 hours then just cut down to 5 hours and 30 minutes. and slowly follow the pattern, until your time spent on yoville fits your soon to be lifestyle, because right now your lifestyle is Yoville. REMEMBER MODERATION IS KEY.
